Qualifications/Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant communication methods Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state credentials) Previous experience interpreting in a school setting is highly valued Ability to facilitate understanding in a variety of classroom activities and subjects Strong interpersonal and communication skills Adaptability and sensitivity to diverse student needs and abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction and discussions between students, teachers, and staff Provide language access for school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities Support the development of students' academic and social skills through accurate and clear interpretation Follow established protocols and ethical standards for educational interpreting Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and administrators to ensure student success Assist students in accessing materials and information required for their academic progress
