Salary:
Commensurate with experience Position Summary Post Secondary Interpreters provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting and other sign language services as required by individual students, while facilitating communication between students, faculty, and staff across the college community. Placement into Interpreter I, II, or III will be determined based on qualifications, certification level, and related professional experience. Post Secondary Interpreter I - Provides basic-level interpreting services. Post Secondary Interpreter II - Provides advanced-level interpreting services. Post Secondary Interpreter III - Provides master-level interpreting services. Primary Duties Performed Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting and communication access services for students, faculty, and staff who are deaf or hard of hearing across academic, student services, and campus events. Interpret in a variety of settings including classrooms, academic support services, student affairs offices, campus events, and commencement. Facilitate effective communication between students, faculty, and staff. Maintain professional relationships and respond appropriately to assigned interpreting needs. Qualifications/Experience Post Secondary Interpreter I Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Missouri Interpreter Basic Level Certification required. Current Missouri Interpreter License required. Post Secondary Interpreter II Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Missouri Interpreter Advanced Level Certification required. Current Missouri Interpreter License required. Post Secondary Interpreter III Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Missouri Interpreter Master Level Certification required. Current Missouri Interpreter License required. Working Conditions Work is done primarily in an air-conditioned environment: offices, labs, and occasional storage areas.
