Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting student success as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contract role offers the chance to provide vital communication support, working one-on-one with a 1st grade student in an elementary school setting near Republic, MO. With a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30am to 3:30pm (35 hours per week), you'll play an important part in fostering student access and engagement throughout the academic year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent) Demonstrated experience providing interpretation services in a K-12 educational environment strongly preferred Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Skill in facilitating clear, accurate communication between students, staff, and peers Ability to build rapport with young learners and tailor interpretation to individual needs Strong organizational and communication abilities Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a 1st grade student during classroom activities, assignments, and interactions with peers and teachers Support the student's full participation and comprehension across academic and social settings Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to ensure accessible learning environments Implement communication strategies consistent with best practices in educational interpreting Foster an inclusive atmosphere that encourages student growth and self-advocacy This role offers the satisfaction of making a meaningful impact in a student's academic journey.
