Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in a student's educational journey by providing direct sign language interpreting services in a supportive school environment. This full-time, contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 academic year offers you the chance to work one-on-one with a first-grade student, fostering both communication and confidence in a classroom setting.
Key Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL). Experience as a sign language interpreter in educational or similar settings. Ability to interpret for young children and adapt communication style to meet developmental needs. Current certification such as EIPA, RID, or state licensure (preferred or as required by local regulations). Strong collaboration skills for partnering with teachers, staff, and families. Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting student success.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a first-grade student during school hours (8:30am-3:30pm). Accurately interpret spoken and signed communication in classroom and school settings. Facilitate clear communication between the student, peers, and educators, ensuring access to the full educational experience. Support the student's social integration and participation in classroom activities. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and ethical standards. Work collaboratively with the educational team to adapt to evolving student needs and classroom activities.
