Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Contract Step into an exciting opportunity as an ASL educator working with elementary students for the upcoming 26/27 school year. This part-time contract role is perfect for passionate professionals eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Located near the vibrant community of Pope, MS, your expertise will directly support the growth and inclusivity of an expanding ASL program. Currently, you'll begin by working one-on-one with a dedicated elementary school student, fostering their language development and confidence. As the interest in ASL grows, there is potential for this role to expand to a full-time position, providing long-term opportunities and a rewarding career path.
Key Qualifications:
Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or ASL instruction Experience teaching American Sign Language at the elementary level is highly preferred Strong communication skills, including fluency in ASL Ability to tailor lessons and strategies to individual student needs Dedication to creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Main Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging ASL instruction to a single elementary student in alignment with educational best practices Develop and implement individualized lesson plans that support the student's language acquisition and academic growth Collaborate with school staff and families to monitor progress and adapt teaching methods as needed Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP or student support meetings As the program grows, additional students may be added, providing the opportunity to increase your hours and impact.
