Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A full-time Sign Language Interpreter is sought for the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 school years to provide dedicated 1:1 support in a school setting located in Laurel, MT. This contract position involves working closely with students requiring sign language interpretation to facilitate effective communication and enhance their educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 sign language interpreting services for students during instructional time. Support classroom communication, ensuring accessibility for deaf or hard-of-hearing students. Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote an inclusive learning environment. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics. Participate in team meetings and professional development activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification or relevant credentials preferred. Experience interpreting in educational settings is highly desirable. Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication needs of students. Ability to work independently and manage a full-time schedule. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
