Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A school-based position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a student at an elementary school in Albemarle, NC. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 4, 2026, through May 28, 2027, totaling 37.5 hours per week. Key responsibilities include providing clear and effective sign language interpretation services within a school environment, ensuring meaningful communication access for an elementary student. The interpreter will collaborate closely with educational staff and use their expertise to foster an inclusive learning setting.
Qualifications and desired experience:
Active North Carolina NCDPI Sign Language Interpreter license required; please provide verification of current active licensure. EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher. Proficiency and prior experience with ECATS (the state's electronic data management system). Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to work with children.Location:
North Stanly Middle School area, Albemarle, NC (address provided upon hire for orientation and scheduling).
