Sign Language Interpreter in Jacksonville, NC

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A school in Coastal North Carolina, just outside Wilmington, is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student. This contract position begins immediately and extends through the end of the school year, with the potential for renewal based on performance and need.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide clear and effective sign language interpretation for a student in a 1:1 educational setting Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers to support academic and social development Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures Collaborate with educational staff to enhance the learning experience of the student

Qualifications:

Minimum 3.5 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) or RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification Experience working in educational environments as a Sign Language Interpreter Strong understanding of Deaf culture and effective communication techniques Ability to start immediately and commit through the end of the school year Willingness to participate in an interview process promptly
