Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type All Job Types Step into a rewarding onsite role as a Sign Language Interpreter, working one-on-one with an elementary student in a supportive school environment near King, NC. This full-time position offers 40 hours per week, providing the opportunity to make a significant impact on a child's educational journey while utilizing your expertise.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language with strong communication skills Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational or school setting Must hold an EIPA score of 3.0 or higher Ability to foster a positive and inclusive classroom experience Skilled at adapting messages and content for learners at the elementary level Dependable and punctual, with a professional approach to student support Comfortable working exclusively onsite
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver accurate, clear sign language interpretation for an elementary student, facilitating communication between student, peers, and staff Collaborate closely with teachers and school personnel to ensure accessibility and engagement in academic and social activities Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and school policies Adjust interpreting style as needed for different classroom settings or activities Provide guidance to support student independence and self-advocacy Participate in team meetings and contribute insights to the student's educational support plan This is a meaningful opportunity to help a student thrive academically and personally, while working among dedicated educators.
