Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school environment near Midland, NC. In this contract position, your communication skills will help bridge the gap, empowering students who are deaf or hard of hearing to access their education fully. This is an exciting opportunity to put your expertise into practice and be a vital part of a supportive educational team.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting in an educational environment preferred Certification in Sign Language Interpretation (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent) Ability to adapt interpreting styles for individual student needs Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for students requiring sign language support Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers Interpret during meetings, assemblies, and school functions as needed Maintain confidentiality regarding all student and school matters Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure effective support for students' learning goals
