Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into an educational environment where your skills as a Sign Language Interpreter can make a significant difference for young learners. This onsite, contract opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about supporting elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The schedule aligns with the school day, running from 7:45am-3:15pm, but candidates seeking afternoon hours (11:00am-3:15pm) are also encouraged to apply.
Desired Qualifications:
Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter; consideration will be given to those with a provisional license if EIPA is below 4.0 Experience using American Sign Language (ASL) to facilitate communication in school settings Ability to interpret and transliterate in a fast-paced elementary environment Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration with educational staff and students Strong organizational and time management skills
Key Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpretation for students, ensuring equitable access to classroom instruction and activities Collaborate with teachers and staff to understand lesson objectives and facilitate student participation Support both academic and social integration for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism within the school community Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere This role offers the chance to directly impact students' educational growth while working within a supportive team environment.
