Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Lincoln, Nebraska Sunbelt Staffing - 3.8 Lincoln, NE Job Details Contract 14 hours ago Qualifications School experience Educational interpretation Interpretation American Sign Language Experience working with children Working with students Experience working with elementary school students Interpretation experience within education industry Cross-functional communication Full Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a meaningful impact in the lives of elementary students by supporting their communication and learning as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract position is based onsite and offers a choice of full-day hours (7:45am-3:15pm) or a flexible afternoon schedule (11:00am-3:15pm). You'll work directly with students at Beattie Elementary, facilitating seamless classroom inclusion and empowering young learners to access the curriculum and social interactions.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience working with children, ideally in educational settings Possession of or eligibility for a Nebraska interpreter license (provisional licenses accepted with EIPA below 4.0) Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Reliability and adaptability, with a commitment to student growth
Core Responsibilities:
Provide direct sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction, activities, and school events Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to optimize support for each child Foster a supportive, inclusive environment that nurtures communication and engagement Maintain accurate documentation as required Uphold privacy and confidentiality standards in all student-related matters
