Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a genuine difference in students' lives by facilitating accessible communication and learning in an elementary environment. A rewarding opportunity awaits a Sign Language Interpreter to support young learners in a vibrant and inclusive elementary school setting. This full-time, onsite contract role spans the academic year from August 12, 2026, through May 20, 2027, with options for both full-day (7:45 am-3:15 pm) or afternoon-only (11:00 am-3:15 pm) schedules to suit your availability.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting within educational settings Willingness to consider candidates with a
PROVISIONAL
license if EIPA score is under 4.0 Experience supporting students at the elementary level is strongly favored Ability to adapt communication styles to various student needs and classroom dynamics Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and confidentiality Flexibility to collaborate with educators, students, and families in a school environment Onsite availability throughout the contractual period
Responsibilities:
Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL for students, staff, and classroom activities Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to foster an inclusive, accessible learning experience Support social and academic development of students who are deaf or hard of hearing Maintain accurate records and comply with confidentiality standards Assist during instructional and extracurricular activities as required This contract role offers the chance to build meaningful relationships, refine your interpreting skills, and contribute to educational equity for deaf and hard of hearing students.
