Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting early learners as a Sign Language Interpreter working 1:1 with a Pre-Kindergarten student. This contract opportunity offers approximately 24 hours per week and focuses on providing a supportive, accessible environment for a young child to thrive. In this position, you'll play a vital part in enhancing the educational experience for a student in the 4-year-old pre-kindergarten program, working directly with teachers and staff to facilitate clear communication and meaningful participation in the classroom. Your expertise and commitment will ensure that the student's unique needs are met with compassion and professionalism. Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and ability to interpret in educational settings
  • Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (state and/or national credentials preferred)
  • Previous experience providing interpreting for early childhood or K-12 students is highly valued
  • Ability to foster trust and rapport with young children
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, faculty, and families
  • Adaptability and understanding of the Pre-K curriculum and age-appropriate expectations Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver one-on-one interpreting services for a Pre-K 4 student throughout the school day
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and family members to monitor and support student progress
  • Adapt communication styles to suit the developmental level of the student
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for educational interpreters
