A contract position is available for the 2026/2027 school year as a part-time sign language interpreter, providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Pre-K student. This role offers about 24 hours of work each week, ideal for interpreters seeking a flexible schedule and the chance to impact early education in a school setting. Your responsibilities will involve working closely with a single student, ensuring seamless communication throughout the school day and assisting with both educational activities and social interactions. You'll collaborate with teaching staff, participate in IEP meetings as needed, and help foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience Registration or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (state or national preferred) Prior experience in a school or educational environment, especially with young children Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt and respond to the unique needs of a Pre-K student
Key Responsibilities:
