Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in education? A part-time contract position is now available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide 1:1 support for a Pre-K 4 student. This role offers approximately 24 hours per week and is an ideal fit for professionals passionate about fostering communication and inclusion for young learners.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred Ability to work effectively with young children and adapt communication style based on individual needs Comfort working as a 1:1 interpreter, supporting language acquisition and classroom participation Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families Relevant certifications or credentials for sign language interpretation in school environments
Role Responsibilities:
Provide direct sign language interpreting services to a Pre-K 4 student to facilitate access to instruction, classroom activities, and peer interaction Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other service providers to support the student's development and successful integration Adapt interpreting techniques based on age-appropriate communication and classroom context Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interpreting services Contribute to IEP meetings or planning sessions if required to ensure comprehensive support for the student This rewarding contract opportunity offers steady part-time hours during the 26/27 school year, allowing for a balanced schedule alongside your other commitments.
