Experience with hospital settings, medical records, and social work is highly valued. Duties Provide accurate interpretation between healthcare providers and patients in various medical settings, including hospitals and clinics. Translate written documents, medical records, and patient information as needed. Interpret for patients who use American Sign Language or other multilingual needs to ensure comprehensive understanding. Assist with documentation review, ensuring all interpreted information is correctly recorded in medical records. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times. Support social work teams by interpreting during patient interviews or family meetings related to child protective services or other social services. Facilitate communication during medical procedures, consultations, and discharge planning. Document interpretation sessions accurately for legal and medical purposes. Collaborate with healthcare staff to improve communication processes and patient experience. Requirements Multilingual proficiency with fluency in English and at least one other language; bilingual skills are essential. Certification or demonstrated experience in interpretation, translation, or related fields such as social work or hospital experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation review processes. The ability to interpret American Sign Language is highly desirable. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. Experience working in healthcare environments such as hospitals or clinics is preferred. Background knowledge of child protective services procedures is a plus. Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and cultural sensitivity. This position plays a crucial role in bridging communication gaps within the healthcare system, ensuring equitable access to quality care for all patients through expert interpretation services.
