Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Embark on a dynamic opportunity as a full-time Educational Sign Language Interpreter in an engaging school setting. The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusion, skilled in American Sign Language (ASL), and ready to foster an accessible learning environment for all.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting Ability to interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities with accuracy and professionalism Understanding of Deaf culture and the unique needs of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students Familiarity with IEPs and educational goals for students receiving sign language services National or state certification (such as RID, EIPA, or recognized equivalent) is highly valued Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and the capacity to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Provide real-time sign language interpretation in classrooms, assemblies, meetings, and school-related events Ensure clear communication between students, staff, and peers in both one-on-one and group settings Collaborate with educators and support staff to adapt materials and strategies for optimal student understanding Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interpreting assignments Support individual student needs, promoting academic and social inclusion This is an excellent opportunity for Interpreters seeking a rewarding, full-time contract role that promotes access and equity in education.
