Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract An exciting opportunity awaits a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a young learner for the upcoming 26/27 school year. This contract role centers on providing interpretation services to a 4-year-old PreK student who is medically fragile and utilizes a vent and trach. Your expertise will play a vital role in fostering communication, inclusion, and educational growth within a nurturing classroom environment. This position is focused around a consistent schedule of four days per week, four hours per day, offering a balanced workload. The assignment is set to begin in the second week of August, providing an excellent chance to be part of a student's formative educational journey from the start of the school year.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings Understanding of the unique needs of medically complex students, particularly those with ventilator and tracheostomy support Ability to adapt communication strategies and materials to fit the developmental level of a PreK student Strong commitment to confidentiality, empathy, and collaborative teamwork with educators, therapists, and families Certification or licensure as required by state or district guidelines is highly valued
