Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference working as a Sign Language Interpreter with a young learner for the upcoming 26/27 school year. In this rewarding contract role, you'll provide essential communication access for a 4-year-old PreK student, ensuring their inclusion and engagement throughout each school day. This position offers consistency and purpose, working with the same student in a supportive environment.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings Understanding of the unique needs of medically fragile children, or willingness to learn Compassionate and patient communication style Ability to collaborate closely with teachers, aides, and healthcare professionals Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
Role Highlights:
Support a PreK student who uses a vent and trach; training and guidance available from staff Work schedule of 4 days per week, 4 hours each day—allowing for work-life balance Ensure the student has equal access and can participate fully in classroom activities Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, and activities Adapt communication approaches to suit both the needs of the student and classroom flow Benefits of this
