DESCRIPTION
BENEFITS Job Summary Perform interpreting duties for TCC students, staff, and faculty of a varied and complex nature in accordance with the operations of Accessibility Resources. Essential Duties Provide interpreting services for the deaf and hard of hearing students, faculty, and staff at classes, meetings, or college related events. Work with faculty to better facilitate communication of academic curriculum with deaf members of the community. Connect deaf students with immediate needs to campus services and resources. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent education in Interpreting for the Deaf, or a related field. Thorough knowledge of Deaf Culture. Effective written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with others. Ability to perform responsibilities under one's own initiative with general supervision. Require fluency in American Sign Language. Availability to interpret/translate or tutor during evening and weekend hours when needed. Ability to translate American Sign Language and other forms of manual communication.
Interpreting Certifications:
QAST Level IV Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Interpreting for the Deaf, or a related field. Experience in higher education.
Interpreting Certifications:
QAST Level V or NAD RID Certification
