Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a rewarding contract role supporting students in a dynamic educational setting near Lebanon, OR. Your skills will bridge communication gaps and ensure equitable access to learning opportunities for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Qualifications and Experience:
Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience in a school-based setting preferred Ability to interpret in a variety of academic subjects and social situations Strong interpersonal and communication skills High level of professionalism and cultural competency Relevant interpreting credentials, certification, or licensure (such as EIPA, RID, or state-specific certifications)
What You'll Do:
Provide sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and support staff Collaborate with educators to understand lesson content and adapt interpretations as needed Support students' social participation and engagement throughout the school day Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting in educational settings Participate in any required meetings or professional development as needed
