Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Bring your passion for American Sign Language to a dynamic educational setting for the 2026-2027 school year! This full-time, onsite opportunity calls for four skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support students across K-12 caseloads within a collaborative team. Working alongside dedicated staff, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering equal access to instruction and fostering an inclusive learning environment. You'll engage with students and educators in a hands-on capacity, interpreting classroom instruction, school-wide activities, and small group interactions within the community. Assignments span the academic year, from August 24, 2026, to June 11, 2027. The role is fully onsite across locations, providing a personal connection and the satisfaction of seeing your impact in real-time.
Qualifications:
Valid Oregon state SLI certification or licensure. Proficiency in both American Sign Language and English with strong expressive and receptive sign skills. Prior experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings is highly valued. Flexible, adaptable, and collaborative approach to working with diverse student populations. Commitment to professional standards, confidentiality, and ethical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately interpret spoken language and sign language in classroom, assembly, and extracurricular settings. Aid in the access and understanding of instruction and activities for deaf and hard of hearing students. Collaborate with teachers and staff to support students' learning plans. Foster positive, respectful relationships encouraging student engagement and confidence. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
