Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by serving as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant school setting near Nazareth, PA. This contract opportunity allows you to work directly with students and educators, supporting accessible communication and inclusion in the classroom. Your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) will help foster a supportive educational environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred Certification as an educational interpreter or equivalent credentials Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff Professionalism, adaptability, and a collaborative attitude Understanding of confidentiality and ethical standards in schools
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities using ASL Support students in participation during lessons, assemblies, and extra-curricular events Collaborate with educators and support staff to adapt communication to individual student needs Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when required Serve as a linguistic and cultural bridge to help students access the full school experience Maintain accurate records and comply with school policies and interpreter guidelines This role is ideal for someone passionate about fostering inclusive education and comfortable working in a dynamic school environment.
