Job Description:
Birch Agency is seeking a Sign Language Interpreters to join our team. Birch Agency is actively recruiting Sign Language Interpreters for the Philadelphia, PA area for the upcoming school year. Our Sign Language Interpreters design and implement services based on the specific needs of the students. We understand that needs of students in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community can vary widely depending on the student s experience with sign language and academic performance level. Birch Agency Sign Language Interpreters offer students an opportunity to communicate and be understood. Services Provided by
Sign Language Interpreters:
Provide sign language interpretive services as specified in the IEP Interpret information, lectures, discussion, classroom activities, school meetings, trainings and conferences Prepare and study subject matter being taught or presented to ensure clear interpretation Adapts interpretations to the varying and diverse needs and abilities of students, and/or teachers, and/or community members Provides interpretation for various situations, such as assemblies, field trips, meetings, test administration, phone calls, music, extra-curricular activities, and sports events Interprets informal conversations with students and staff during unstructured time Participate as a team member for planning and reviewing daily activities, attending in-services and information sharing for the purpose of optimizing the staff and student participation in the educational environment Provide staff with information regarding the interpretation process as well as needs and concerns of individuals who are D/HH for the purpose of creating a positive Deaf friendly climate Collaborate with Teachers of the D/HH, other classroom teachers and other school staff to provide the optimum educational opportunities
