Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Providing specialized communication support for a 3rd-grade female student, this role involves delivering high-quality sign language interpretation services via telehealth in an educational setting in Alaska. The position requires dedication to facilitating effective language access and supporting the student's academic progress through clear and accurate communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver sign language interpretation services for a 1:1 3rd-grade student in a school setting Utilize telehealth platforms to provide remote interpretation support Coordinate with educational staff to ensure consistent communication access Adapt to student attendance variability while maintaining a reliable schedule Maintain professional standards and confidentiality in all interactions
Qualifications and Experience:
Must hold an EIPA score of 3.8 or higher or possess a BEI certification Demonstrated experience in sign language interpretation, preferably with school-aged children Familiarity with telehealth technology and best practices Strong understanding of educational environments and student needs Ability to work with Alaska Standard Time (AST), 4 hours behind
Eastern Standard Time Schedule and Location:
Contract role based in Bethel, Alaska School hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (Friday afternoons reserved for professional development) Approximately 30 hours per week, with per diem flexibility due to student attendance history Engagement in this role supports educational equity by facilitating access to communication for a student with specific needs.
