Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A 1099 contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in Telehealth services within a school environment. This role is based in Taylor, MI, offering the chance to provide vital communication support for students and staff who utilize American Sign Language (ASL) in a remote or hybrid learning setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate accurate and effective communication between hearing-impaired students and educational personnel during telehealth sessions and virtual classrooms. Translate spoken language into sign language and vice versa, ensuring clear understanding of instructions, discussions, and educational content. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics while supporting various student needs. Collaborate with educators and healthcare providers to support individualized learning plans and telehealth consultations. Prepare for interpreting assignments by reviewing relevant materials and engaging in ongoing professional development.
Desired Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, particularly in telehealth or educational settings. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong knowledge of interpreting standards and ethics. Ability to work independently under a 1099 contract arrangement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote interpreting technologies.
