This contract opportunity requires a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to work on-site, with the potential for a hybrid schedule, providing essential support at least four days each week. Your expertise will help drive student success within specialized educational programs.
Key Qualifications:
Certification or proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) required Experience working in educational settings preferred, but all levels of experience (0-3+ years) are welcome Skilled in interpreting for students with hearing impairments and/or limited to no verbal communication Able to adapt to assist in multiple classroom environments, including specialized programs such as SAILS and STEPs Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with educational staff Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and supporting student dignity
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpretation services for students during classroom instruction and school activities Assist in evaluations to accurately support the individual needs of students who rely on sign language communication Collaborate with teachers, special education professionals, and program coordinators to optimize the learning environment Support broader program expansion efforts, enabling access for more students needing interpreting services Maintain accurate records of services provided, progress reports, and any necessary communication logs
