Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Multiple openings are available, with assignments across several vibrant school communities in the Beaufort area. You'll help foster an inclusive environment and bridge communication gaps, ensuring every learner has access to a quality education.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 required Experience interpreting in educational or K-12 settings preferred Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for accessibility Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and staff
Core Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction and school communications between students, peers, and staff Facilitate clear understanding by accurately conveying spoken language to ASL and vice versa Support individual and group needs across a variety of subjects and grade levels Maintain confidentiality and promote a positive, respectful learning environment Participate in team meetings, IEP discussions, and ongoing training as needed Adapt to multiple school locations and varied educational settings throughout the contract period This full-time position is set at 37.5 hours per week, running from early August through late May.
