Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in a school setting as a Sign Language Interpreter. This position begins August 3, 2026, and runs through May 28, 2027, spanning 37.5 hours per week across multiple school locations. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring accessibility for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students while working collaboratively with educators and staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter with a score of 3.5 or higher on the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment). Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with interpreting in educational settings. Prior experience interpreting for K-12 students is highly valued. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit to work with teachers, staff, and students. Able to maintain confidentiality and support diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language for students and staff during classroom instruction and school activities. Facilitate communication during individual, small group, and whole class settings. Support students' access to curriculum, fostering engagement and understanding. Maintain professionalism and adhere to educational and ethical standards at all times. Collaborate with educational teams to address and support individual student needs.
