Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into a dynamic educational environment supporting students in need of quality communication access as a School Sign Language Interpreter for a full academic year. Work alongside dedicated professionals, making a direct impact in classrooms by facilitating meaningful connections between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers and instructors. This is a full-time, onsite contract opening, with a potential for virtual work as the school year approaches, offering an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in a collaborative school community.
Qualifications & Experience:
Current SLI credentials with a 3.5 or higher on the EIPA, including the written portion Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings preferred Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families Adaptability to various classroom environments and student needs Professionalism, confidentiality, and a commitment to fostering inclusive education
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school events for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Assist in bridging communication between students, staff, and peers in academic and extracurricular settings Prepare for assignments by reviewing class materials and lesson plans as provided Support individualized education program (IEP) goals through designated interpreting and collaboration Contribute to an inclusive, accessible learning environment that promotes student engagement Maintain ethical interpreting standards as defined for educational settings This full-time role spans the academic year, offering consistency and the chance to develop strong relationships within the school community.
