Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A Full-Time Sign Language Interpreter position is available for the 2026-2027 school year in Columbia, SC. This onsite role will provide essential interpreting services to support students' communication needs within the school environment. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in educational settings by facilitating effective communication and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide sign language interpreting services during educational activities and meetings Support students with hearing impairments to fully engage in classroom instruction and school events Collaborate with educators, administrators, and support staff to ensure accessibility Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while facilitating communication Adapt interpreting strategies according to the needs of individual students and situational requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

Proficiency in sign language interpretation specific to educational settings Achieved a minimum score of 3.5 on the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) written portion Previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in schools preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Available for a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week

Location and Schedule:

Position located in Columbia, South Carolina Contract from August 6, 2026, to May 26, 2027 Onsite required; virtual options may be considered closer to the start of the school year
