Your expertise will help facilitate effective communication and support student engagement across classroom settings, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive educational experience for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational or similar settings Skilled at providing 1:1 interpretation support for students Adaptable to primary and secondary (K-12) age groups Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality Relevant certification and adherence to state interpreting standards preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver accurate sign language interpretation between students and staff in classrooms and school activities Provide tailored 1:1 support to meet individual student needs Facilitate clear communication for academic instructions, peer interactions, and extracurricular events Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to integrate interpreting services seamlessly Maintain detailed records of interpreted sessions and student progress as required Be available for on-call assignments with timely response and flexibility
