Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Help bridge communication in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming school year. This full-time, on-site contract opportunity allows you to make a lasting impact supporting students and staff throughout the academic year. You'll facilitate meaningful interactions in dynamic classroom environments, ensuring every student has equitable access to instruction and participation. Your expertise as a qualified interpreter will be critical each day as you serve in various schools across the district (assignments and caseloads to be determined). You'll work with diverse age groups, adapting your skills to meet the unique needs of elementary, middle, or high school students. With a start date of August 11th, 2026, your commitment will run through May 27th, 2027, Monday through Friday.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher Successful completion of applicable written exam(s) Prior experience providing interpreting services in school settings strongly preferred Comprehensive knowledge of American Sign Language and interpreting best practices Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Flexible, collaborative, and able to adjust to varied classroom environments
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accurate sign language interpretation between students, educators, and staff Adapt interpreting style for different age groups and instructional settings Support student engagement and inclusion in all academic activities Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Collaborate with school teams to support each student's educational goals As a valued interpreter, you'll work in an inclusive, purpose-driven environment where your contributions are essential to student success.
