Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students' communication needs throughout the upcoming school year. This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to utilize your interpreting skills in a rewarding environment located near Lexington, SC. Working onsite, with the possibility of transitioning to a virtual role at the start of the school year, you will collaborate directly with students and staff members, facilitating active participation in classroom activities and campus life.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Minimum 3.5 EIPA with the written portion completed Experience providing interpreting services within K-12 educational settings preferred Strong understanding of Deaf culture and sensitivity to diverse communication needs Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism Flexibility to adapt to changing environments; ability to work independently and as part of a team
Primary Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, presentations, and school events for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Facilitate clear, effective communication between students, educators, and staff Collaborate with educational teams to support student success and access to curriculum Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical guidelines governing educational interpreting Participate in meetings and professional development sessions as required
