Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support students in a school setting in West Columbia, SC. This contract position spans the academic year from August 6, 2026, to May 26, 2027, with full-time hours of 37.5 per week. The role focuses on providing interpretation services to facilitate communication and equal access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students within the educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation services during instructional and school activities. Collaborate with teachers, staff, and specialists to support student learning and communication needs. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards. Participate in training and meetings as required to enhance service delivery. Manage caseloads effectively, with specific details to be provided closer to the start date.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings. Minimum of 3.5 on the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) written portion. Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication strategies. Ability to work onsite with consideration for occasional virtual work closer to the school year. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
