Outreach Consultant HE9950 Posting Details Posting Details Logo Institution SD Services f/t Deaf Working Title Outreach Consultant HE9950 Posting Number F01887P Department SDSD-Outreach Physical Location of Position (City) Unspecified Posting Text SDSD Outreach Consultants provide consultation and support to the teams and families of South Dakota children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. SDSD is seeking an energetic and organized individual who enjoys working with children identified as Deaf and Hard of Hearing and wants to be part of a team that is passionate about the field of deaf education. Office location will be negotiable. This is a 10-month, full-time faculty position with full benefits.
Job Highlights:
Provide consultation, support, and resources to children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing as well as to their families and school districts. Partner in educational success for South Dakota children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
Ability to work with children who have a varied hearing status and capability to utilize a variety of communication methods and listening technologies. Experience working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Experience working with families and Local Educational Agencies (LEAs). Proficient American Sign Language (ASL) skills. SKI•HI Program, Talk Around the Clock, and Cottage Acquisition Scales for Listening, Language and Speech (CASLLS) training/knowledge. Good organizational and record-keeping skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills.
Credentials/Certification/Registration Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Communication Sciences & Disorders, and/or Deaf Education; Master's Degree preferred. Endorsement in Early Childhood, Deaf Education, and/or Communication Disorders. South Dakota Teacher's Certificate/ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. Incumbents will be required to undergo a background investigation before employment begins. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Since that time, SDSD has worked to provide quality educational support services for children identified Deaf or Hard of Hearing (birth through high school graduation or until age 22) and their families. The agency's mission includes consultation with families and educational teams statewide, and comprehensive student evaluations, including audiology services and hearing screenings. These services are being provided at the SDSD Sioux Falls and Rapid City Clinics, and through our statewide Mobile Labs. SDSD serves as a resource for families and local schools by providing a specialist in hearing loss as a member of the educational team.
