Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support within a school setting in Franklin, Tennessee. This role focuses on facilitating effective interaction between hearing-impaired students and educators, ensuring an inclusive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) for students during classroom instruction and school events. Assist students in understanding lesson content and participating fully in academic activities. Collaborate with teachers and staff to support communication needs and adapt interpretive strategies as necessary. Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills. Experience working in educational settings preferred. Ability to adapt interpretation techniques to varying contexts and student needs. Reliable and punctual, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of ethical standards and confidentiality requirements in educational environments.
Location:
Franklin, Tennessee This contract position covers a maternity leave beginning March 25th through May 13th, providing valuable support during this period.
