Job Description
Enhance the high school experience for a remarkable 9th-grade student as a Sign Language Interpreter on a contract basis. This unique opportunity is located near Houston, TX, and is perfect for a dedicated language facilitator who wants to make a difference every weekFridays only, for 6.5 hours onsite.
Essential Qualifications:
Valid, active license to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter Prior experience working within a K-12 or educational setting, preferably supporting students with hearing loss Comfort supporting students academically and socially Strong expressive and receptive American Sign Language (ASL) skills Commitment to professional standards and ethics Team player who collaborates smoothly with teachers and school teamsKey Responsibilities:
Provide direct interpretation services throughout the school day for a high-achieving 9th-grade student Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers in both academic and extracurricular environments Support the students participation in classroom activities, school performances, and social events Assist in academic content such as Algebra I and reading, adapting your approach as needed for optimal understanding Help foster independence and confidence in a student who uses both a Cochlear Implant and ALD devicesPerks & Benefits:
