  • Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract A contracted opportunity is available for experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Hampton, VA.
This assignment runs from August 24, 2026, through June 9, 2027, requiring 35 hours per week. Four ASL Interpreters are needed to provide direct interpreting services for elementary through high school students. Daily schedules vary based on student placement: Elementary (Kindergarten and 2nd grade): 8:40 AM
  • 3:20 PM High School (12th grade standard diploma): 7:20 AM
  • 2:05 PM High School (10th grade modified diploma, potential placement): 7:20 AM
  • 2:05 PM Essential qualifications and experience include: Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter within school environments Certification demonstrating ability at VQAS Level 3 or EIPA score of 3.
0 or higher Experience interpreting across a range of grade levels, including elementary and high school students Effective collaboration with educational staff, students, and families to facilitate communication and learning Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in a school setting Responsibilities encompass providing accurate, clear, and effective interpreting services to support students' access to the curriculum and extracurricular activities. Interpreters will work closely with teachers and educational teams to ensure communication needs are met and students' academic experience is fully supported.
