Job Description

Facilitates effective and clear communication between hearing and deaf/hard of hearing patients their families and Health System staff. Conducts medical and general interpreting and/or transliterating for deaf or hard of hearing staff patients and their families. Performs a variety of administrative tasks training and education within the Health System. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Completion of accredited interpreter training program required.
Experience:
No experience required.
Licensure:
Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing VQAS performance assessment Level III (medical interpreter) or higher or similar certification from another state.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires frequently traveling (distance: 1 mile). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. The starting base rate for this role is $16.97 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
