  • Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Four Sign Language Interpreter positions are available for the 2026-2027 academic year in Norfolk, VA schools, supporting K-12 students.
These contract roles provide approximately 35 hours per week from August 24, 2026, through June 9, 2027. The assignments involve working with students across various grade levels, including elementary and high school.
Responsibilities include:
Providing clear and accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for elementary students (kindergarten and 2nd grade), as well as high school students pursuing both standard and modified diplomas. Facilitating effective communication between students, teachers, and staff to ensure full access to educational content. Supporting classroom participation and assisting with individual learning needs. Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Work hours vary by grade level: Elementary K and 2nd

8:40 AM
  • 3:20 PM High School (12th grade, standard diploma): 7:20 AM
  • 2:05 PM High School (10th grade, modified diploma): 7:20 AM
  • 2:05
PM Qualifications:
Valid VQAS Level 3 or EIPA score of 3.0 or higher. Proven experience in ASL interpretation in educational settings. Strong knowledge of educational terminology and practices. Ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and families. Dedication to supporting K-12 students' communication access and learning.
