Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a direct impact supporting students in an educational environment near Bellingham, WA by utilizing your expertise in American Sign Language. This onsite, contract opportunity offers a pivotal 1x need for the upcoming school year, working closely with staff and students to facilitate effective communication and enhance learning outcomes. What we're seeking: Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting in educational settings Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Teacher preferred Ability to collaborate with educators and support staff Strong commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible classroom environments Professional certification or credentials required for interpreting in school settings Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Role responsibilities: Provide accurate sign language interpretation between students, staff, and educators within classroom and school activities Support student participation in lessons, activities, and school events by ensuring clear communication access Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and instructional teams to tailor communication strategies per student needs Uphold professional standards, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries within the school environment Assist in fostering understanding of Deaf culture and ASL among peers and staff when appropriate This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful contribution in a school community, helping students thrive academically and socially.
