Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students in an onsite educational environment as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter and American Sign Language (ASL) specialist. As a vital communication partner in a school setting near the Blaine, WA area, you will play a key role in empowering learners and connecting them to classroom curriculum, peers, and educators. This contract role is available for the next school year, with additional specifics to follow.
Qualifications and preferred experience:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or educational settings Experience teaching or facilitating ASL instruction is highly valued Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster trust and engagement Certification or licensure for educational interpreting (as applicable) Collaborative approach to supporting students and working with school staff Reliability and a passion for making a positive difference in students' daily lives Role responsibilities: Interpret spoken language and classroom content into ASL for students Ensure clear, accurate, and confidential communication between students, teachers, and peers Provide support during classroom activities, meetings, and school events Contribute expertise in ASL instruction as needed Adapt interpreting techniques to meet individual student requirements Work closely with teachers and support staff to facilitate inclusive learning Maintain professional standards and adhere to school policies This is an onsite position with one opening for the next school year.
