Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students by providing expert sign language interpretation within a school environment. This onsite position is ideally suited for a professional with advanced skills in sign language and a passion for education. Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools. Background as a teacher or instructor in American Sign Language is highly desirable. Ability to interpret in real time for students, staff, and faculty in classroom and educational settings. Knowledge of educational terminology, protocols, and confidentiality practices. Strong communication skills, professionalism, and reliability for collaborating with educational teams.
Main Responsibilities:
Deliver clear, accurate ASL interpretation between spoken English and sign language for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Ensure students' full access to curriculum, classroom instruction, school events, and peer interactions. Collaborate with teaching staff and special education teams to assess and support communication needs. Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment by adapting interpretation as appropriate for age and subject. Maintain professional ethics and uphold student confidentiality at all times.
Additional Information:
Contract assignment for the upcoming school year (NSY) with in-person requirements. Onsite role within a supportive educational community.
