Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Empower students to communicate and connect by utilizing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter and American Sign Language (ASL) professional. This engaging contract opportunity near Kent, WA involves supporting learners within school settings, ensuring equal access to education and fostering an inclusive environment for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with interpreting in educational settings Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or teaching ASL is strongly preferred Relevant certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter Ability to accurately interpret spoken language to ASL and vice versa Strong collaboration and communication skills, working effectively with students, staff, and families Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment for all students
Primary Responsibilities:
Facilitate clear and accurate communication among students, educators, and other school personnel using sign language Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assemblies, and extracurricular activities Provide ASL language support and instruction to students as needed Work alongside educators to adapt materials and activities for diverse learning needs Advocate for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, ensuring accessibility and engagement Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards as outlined by professional interpreting organizations Embracing this role offers the chance to make a genuine difference in students' daily lives.
