Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a meaningful impact supporting students by providing on-site sign language interpreting services for the upcoming school year. This contract position near Lynden, WA, offers a dynamic and collaborative educational environment where your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) will help enrich students' access to curriculum and school experiences. Your contributions will ensure that Deaf and Hard of Hearing students are empowered to fully participate in both classroom settings and school activities. With your skills, you'll bridge communication, foster inclusion, and make learning accessible.
What We're Looking For:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within educational, school, or classroom settings Ability to interpret for a range of age groups, from elementary to high school Familiarity with IEP processes and diverse learning needs is a plus Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills Professional certification or equivalent qualifications in interpreting or ASL instruction, per state and district standards
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver accurate and effective interpretation between students, staff, and others on campus Support comprehension and participation in classroom instruction, discussions, group work, and school events Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and special education teams to coordinate support for student success Adapt interpreting style and methods to meet individual student needs Maintain professional confidentiality and adhere to all relevant policies and ethical standards
