  • Contract Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.

Qualifications & Credentials:
Successful completion of the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) exam Current credentials/certification as a Sign Language Interpreter Experience interpreting within educational settings, preferably K-12 Strong interpersonal and communication abilities Ability to adapt interpretation to student age, subject matter, and individual needs Professionalism, discretion, and a collaborative mindset
Key Responsibilities:
Provide real-time sign language interpretation for students on your caseload, ensuring effective communication between students, educators, and peers Collaborate closely with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to address student learning goals Support student participation in classroom activities, assemblies, and school events Assist with IEP meetings or other planning sessions as needed Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and educational plans Monitor student understanding and advocate for required accommodations
