Mercy High School is seeking a theatre technical director to assist with the school's performing arts events. The ideal candidate has the knowledge and expertise to design and implement the technological aspects of performing arts events and a willingness to share that knowledge in an education-based performing arts environment. Candidates should be dedicated to working with a diverse group of girls in a community that values intellectual pursuits, strong relationships, and spiritual development. Responsibilities Plan and effectively implement the technological aspects of school events including but not limited to two theatre, two music, two dance, and one variety productions including: Sound design Lighting Design Support overlapping production timelines and shared use of theater spaces. Design lighting plots and cue sheets appropriate to each production. Manage lighting inventory and sound equipment. Maintain, repair, and inventory lighting and sound instruments, cables, and accessories. Hang, circuit, focus, and program lighting systems. Track equipment usage, damage, and replacement needs. Resell old equipment when necessary or ensure it is disposed of appropriately. Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and vendor coordination. Maintain cleanliness and organization or technical spaces. Ensure performance spaces are prepared, functional, and reset after use. Advise administration of facility upgrades and long-term technical planning. Coordinate with faculty, staff, and administrators to support production and events. Schedule and oversee technical rehearsals and crew calls. Create a positive, cooperative, and organized atmosphere and willingness to lead student technicians. Train and mentor student crew members. Teach and model proper use of tools, equipment, and theatrical technology. Enforce safety standards and maintain a safe working environment at all times. Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Respect and support the school's mission.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Demonstrated experience in theatre technology is required. Ability to instruct students and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues is required. Candidates are subject to a criminal background check, Child Protection Services Screening, and an MSDE Employment History Review prior to employment.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, all faculty and staff are regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active. It requires both sitting and standing for prologued periods, and at times walking, including using a ladder to access the catwalk, and occasional moving/rearranging of items. The position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds. The compensation for this position is $3,500-$4,500. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a stipend outside of the range shown. There may be the opportunity for paid projections on an as needed basis.
