July 202 6 SUMMARY The Assistant House Technician (A HT) serves as the secondary production specialist at the Luminary Arts Center (LAC) , a 22 0

  • box style performance space owned and operated by Minnesota Opera (MNOP) . The Assistant House Technician is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the theater space , and participates in load
  • ins, load
  • outs, rehearsals , and performances/events for users of the Luminary.
This position reports to the MNOP Technical and Facilities Director (TFD) and frequently collaborates with the Luminary Arts Center Director (LACD) , House Technician (HT) and Luminary Arts Center Assistant Director (LACAD) .
RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to:
  • Knowledge and practical application of all sound, video, lighting, and miscellaneous production equipment at the LAC
  • Support the needs of a diverse set of clients including the Minnesota Opera , outside renters , and vendors
  • Maintain a clear understanding and adhere to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreeme nt between MNOP and
I.A.T.S.E
. Local 13, especially as concerns the LAC
  • Serve as the
L AC I.A .T .S .E
. lead as scheduled
  • typically for weekend rehearsals and performances
  • Support MNOP Scene Shop and overhire crew on MNOP productions presented at the LAC
  • Lead crews of union and non
  • union production personnel at the LAC as scheduled
  • Serve as board operator for lighting, audio, or video as dictated by production needs
  • Continue professional development by staying up to date with the latest technologies and best practices within the industry
  • Follow procedures and policies of MNOP as written in the employee handbook Maintain complete knowledge of MNOP's Safety, Health and Emergency Action Handbook, including procedures for accidents and injuries

7.26 KNOWLEDGE
AND SKILLS
  • Demonstrat e leadership skills in a production environment
  • Proficiency in AV troubleshooting
  • Medium to high level knowledge of at least one of the following: sound, lighting, video for theatrical production
  • prefer knowledge of Dante AV networking, ETC Lighting Systems, QLab
  • Fundamental knowledge of theatrical rigging and scenic construction techniques
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of individuals
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Prefer knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products
  • Prefer c urrent Driver's License and ability to drive company vehicles
WORK CONDITIONS
  • This position will consistently work Friday night s and a variable schedule on Saturdays & Sundays
  • This position consistently works in darkened environments
  • This position must be able to consistently kneel, crouch or stoop within the space
  • This position must be able to consistently ascend and descend stairs
  • This posit ion must be comfortable working at heights on ladders, personnel lifts and on a tension w ire g rid
